Hello everyone. We have an exchange 2007 system where the database resides on an EqualLogic iSCSI array and when trying to backup using BackupExec 2010, we get the following errors and the backup fails...

- AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Blackcomb.a-trac.com\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

V-79-10000-11217 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot failed. Make sure that all provider services and tasks are running. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

- AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Blackcomb.a-trac.com\Microsoft Information Store\Second Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

V-79-10000-11217 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot failed. Make sure that all provider services and tasks are running. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

There are some errors in the event log pertaining to array not recognized meaning the server doesn't seem to know it's using an EqualLogic array so we installed EqualLogic's Host Integration Toolkit and now we have an EqualLogic "tab" on the iSCSI Initiator screen but we are still getting these errors.

It seems to me there is something that still needs to be done on the iSCSI Initiator or some setting somewhere that will allow BackupExec to start up VSS on the server and allow the backup to take place.

Any thoughts? BackupExec blames EL and vice versa. We just haven't gotten the proper tech yet when we call...

thanks!
