I have user with a Pentium III, 533 MHz running Windows ME. When the machine is first turned on, the mouse works fine. However, over the course of a couple of hours, the mouse begins jerking around as you move. This also coincides with the clock not updating itself. Once the machine is rebooted, it runs fine.
I have reloaded current mouse and video drivers as well as replaced the on board battery. The problem is still happening. And now there are 2 new problems. When the user tries to print from the internet, error codes pop up. This didn't happen before. Also, the sound card is no longer working. It is a separate card, not the on board sound device.
It should be noted that the power supply fan had seized at some point and that the computer likely had some heating issues. The power supply has been replaced.
Is there any thing else I can try or is my only option left to replace the motherboard?
Thanks for all of your help. Brenda Sherrod
