Variable to Add X # of days to current date

Hello - I added this to the general discussion but perhaps was better to be placed in this forum -

Is it possible to set up a script to create a variable (say X) and based on a term script - Take the current date and add the # of days set forth in X into the following format:
mmddyyyy?

X = 5
Date = June 14, 2005
Then run a script to Add 5 days to the current date resulting in "06202005"
