We have a requirement for a particular Impromptu report whereby the number of columns of information is variable. These columns hold values relevant to a Service Type.
Currently there are 11 Service Types but the number could well increase over time (in fact we already know that another one is due soon) - they are created in the operational system which provides relevant detail to the datawarehouse.
Currently we have a fix number of columns (with hard coded headings) but we wish to alter this so that additional columns would be created automatically when the processing noticed that other Service Types had now been presented (i.e. as though we were dealing with a variable array).
Is to possible to create this flexibility within the Impromptu report ?

is service type a field in your datawarehouse containing the service type id i.e. 1 to 11 or are these seperate fields ?

If you just have the one field you could use a crosstab with Service Type as columns, this would automatically add any newly created ST's when they appear in the report.

Post more information if this isn't suitable.
