Hi all!

Since I work on AIX I have one curiosity about the DISPLAY variable.
When I enter on ksh

export DISPLAY=<IP>:0.0

What does the 0.0 appending DISPLAY variable mean? What if I enter export DISPLAY=<IP>:1.1?

It's not really a big problem, I have survived the last year without knowing it. But, does someone know it?

Thanks,

Borja

First number is the display. If you want to start up more than one display simultanously just do:

X -query server1 :0
X -query server2 :1
X -query server3 :2

and then use the display variables on the servers to connect to either of your three displays.

The second number should be a virtual screen number but I've never really seen this in use.
If you have a window manager that supports virtual 'screens' you should be able to start a programme up on a specific screen (at least that's my understanding of it).
I've tried this on FVWM but it didn't work?!?
