This data file is not a text file. Choose the Select Data Source command again and then select a coma-separated or tab-delimited text file."
This is a text when i try import data in my Indesing. I have Excell datasheet, I saved in text "tab delimimted", what I did wrong, I don't getit. This is first time that I try to make variables in ID.

Does the file havve the extension ".txt"? Without that, ID will not be able to recognize it properly.

When you Save AS from xcel, make sure the extesnion is .txt.

If you already inserted fields in the ID doc and tried to assign info from a source (that did not work) delete the fields from the ID doc. It may not be recognozing the new source.

Make sure you've selected the source BEFORE inserting data field in the ID doc.

file extension is .txt. I try to open data in new blank sheet in ID, before make any inserting. My purpose is that i can print variable my customers in same layout, they give data, and i do backround, and then we print it out.

Have you inserted the fields in ID so ID knows what to to and where?

If you go to Search in ID Help and type in Merge, it will give you very thorough information/
