Okay, here's my problem in a nutshell ... I am creating a top bar for my website, and I want it to span the entire browser window no matter what size it is. I'm using a repeat background inmage for the expansion cells, but I'm having problems with Netscape allocating cell sizes.
It all works fine in IE5.5 (story of a web designer's life!) - there are three cells which allow the bar to expand or contract, depending on the size of the browser window. There are three other cells containing images etc., and each one of them has an absolute width in pixels - the width of the three expandable cells is not specified, in the hope that what is left over from the width of the table minus the width of the fixed cells will be split evenly between them. That's the theory, and it works in IE. Not so in NN. Does anyone have a clue how to include fixed width cells AND variable width cells in a table in NN?
I'd really appreciate any light shed on this matter. Feel free to email me with responses - this could take a number of exchanges to resolve!
Many thanks, Gareth. [sig][/sig]
