Does Crystal have a problem dealing with a field of type varchar stored in SQL. I can display it on my report but when I need to use it for charting or in a formula i can't see it

I have one which is 250 and one which is 2000

Can where did you get your info on the VarChar in your FAQ and may need this to show my manager

No chance with the 2000.

I have heard that if they are under 255 they can be used in some data environments, but this might not be true in all cases.

I think it is from the Seagate knowledget base. Use the link in the FAQ area and search on Memo and Varchar. Ken Hamady
