var\log\maillog

I have little experience of Linux but a search led me here.

I have outlook 2002 running on an XP pro machine. My problem is i get a message in the inbox from "root" with the subject "var/log/maillog". I don't open it but whenever it's highlighted the outlook.exe process jumps to 99% and I have to kill it.

Any ideas what this is?

It's probably a virus. And you need to turn off previews in Outlook.

Thanks for the reply eric - I worked it out. I just installed a sentry pilot box and it was sending me a massive log file...like I told it to do.
