Guys,

I have no idea what sendmail is but a search for maillog pointed me to this forum.

My problem is I'm using Outlook 2002 and I get a message from "root" with the subject "var/log/maillog". I have auto preview on so when this is the fist item in the email list it hangs up Outlook.

I'm running XP pro.

Any ideas what this is?

Somebody doesn't like you. Sendmail is a mail server which runs on the linux platform. As you are finding out, these logs can be very large. It is possible that you are being sent this file by mistake. Some administrators like to have their server's logs e-mailed to them. There's a slim chance that there was a typo in the recipients e-mail address and it ended up coming to you by mistake. At any rate, you should be able to tell the name of the server that's sending it from the log information. If you are using any type of spam filter, block all mail from that server.

Thanks for the reply,

Exactly as you said - the new sentry pilot box I installed was sending me the massive log files, because I told it to....

Yep, feeling pretty stupid.

Thanks
