I have a Vapochill XE that I'm working on. I had to get a new mounting kit and a new motherbaord (Asus A8N-SLI deluxe) after hooking up everything all I get is Dashes across the display for a few minutes then the system shuts down. I hope it is something simple that I forgot to do. The manual doesn't offer much help and I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks for any help.

I always go back to basics. If there are extra cards (NIC, Audio, etc..) take them out. Even take off the hard drives - you won't need them to test a boot (POST). To see if it's an add-on part - you just need power, CPU, memory, video, and KB. Yank the mouse.

If it still doesn't work, reseat the processor and memory.

Daveyboy,

do you have a vapochill. This whole machine is not intuitive and support is hard to come by. we get a dash that moves across temperture screen and we are trying to determine what this means.

Hard drives are not hooked up and neither is the mouse. We get no post beeps at all. If you know anyway we can contact vapochill for support (other than user forum boards) we would appreciate.

We have googled the internet and come up empty.

TIA

from my experience with alternative cooling methods (water), i found that when you get nothing at all, i.e. no beeps, nothing, that means you have a deead CPU. I had it happen to my athlon XP rig a while back, we replaced the CPU with a one that we knew worked and everything was fine. We found a crack on the center probably from the installation. I'd give that a try
