Hi,
I work for a company which is using GEIS as the VAN provider. Can you please let me know the names of some VAN providers which are dependable and less expensive.

Sterling is very good, great support tools and it does depend on your volume (kc). You can also try EDS, Comport. I would stay away from IBM/Advantis ($$).

Sometimes you get what you pay for in that all of the major Van's will match the others with a bit of negotiation. Inovis will cut your existing Van's costs by 50% for the 1st year. They will of course require copies of your past invoices.

Over the past several years each of the Van's has experienced difficulties from time to time. GXS recently implemented redundent failover capabilities.

Buyer be aware: sometimes low cost can be equated with low service levels.

Not a conventional "VAN" provider, but worth checking out....

New and promising company, but as noted.. more than a traditional VAN, and their unit price includes everything.. no setup fee, no fixed service charge and no fee for transformation of content.. they achieve this through an innovative semantic ontology (common data model), which enables fast and easy implementation of new data formats.

Their unit price (per message) will beat most big VAN providers - though it can be a tricky comparison if your messages tend to only be a few bytes in length..

If you need a direct contact name, post back.

A smile is worth a thousand kind words. So smile, it's easy! :)
