VAL renaming files

I'm using Voice Announcement Manager 3.1.12 to backup my annoucements. I have one announcement that has the octiplex symbol (#) so I cant back it up. And I cant rename this one or any other files now. I used to be able to rename files from with VAL.

The log files says "Tue Jun 09 10:24:08 PDT 2009 **Task: Rename Announcement Files,Task ID: 4** Change announcement for star.wav failed. 1 00000000 5bc5 "announcements" is an invalid entry; please press HELP"

I've reinstalled the application. How can I get back to being able to rename annoucements?
