Hi

I've set up Val manager to manage our annoucement boards, but am having problems getting it to work.

In the voice system properties I have put in the ip address of the CLan I want the val board to connect through. When I run the command to get the val board properties, this is what happens:
**Task: Get VAL Board Information, Task ID: 1** Connection to VAL01A03 succeeded.
**Task: Get VAL Board Information, Task ID: 1** 1 00000000 50c5 Identifier command word(s) omitted; please press HELP
**Task: Get VAL Board Information, Task ID: 1** There was an error retrieving the VAL boards for VAL01A03. 1 00000000 51c5 Object command word omitted; please press HELP
**Task: Get VAL Board Information, Task ID: 1** No VAL boards detected on VAL01A03
**Task: Get VAL Board Information, Task ID: 1** Connection to VAL01A03 terminated.

Can anyone offer any advice, please?

Many thanks,

Merrie

You need to setup a Data-Module on Port 33 of the VAL board. When you setup VAL Manager, you use the IP address of the VAL board directly. VAL Manager uses FTP to move files to/from the board. I have mine setup that way and it works great for me.

What version is your PBX and what version is the VAL software? I use the C-LAN IP which then finds all of the VAL boards and annc properties of the system.

In both my old Definity G3SI R9, and now my new CM 3.2, both use the ip address of the VAL board for FTP, you cannot get to a VAL board by FTP to the CLAN

THanks for your help, everyone.

on our G3si I've got VAL manager set up with the ip address of the CLan card and that works fine.

Its the new IP switch I'm having problems. I'll give it a go using the IP address of the VAL board itself and see how that works.

cheers,

Merrie

Merrie,

Did you figure out what the issue was? I just set up two other switches and worked fine. Now I am getting the same error for the 3rd PBX???

Hi

I still havent got it to work. I think that either my version of the software needs a patch or, there is stil a firewall in place.

I've got avaya coming in next week, so hopefully we'll be able to resolve the problem.

I'll post up anything I learn!

What version is the PBX and what version is the VAM software. These two are tied together.

the val manager is version 2.0.8 and the avaya is version 13.

the avaya is ipt rather than tdm

You need VAL software 3 or higher to match your CM3. That's your issue.

ah ha! I had a feeling it was something like that.

Thanks for your help.

I'll let you know how I get on once I've managed to convince our IT manager I need a software upgrade!
