I'm sure you regulars see this one all the time. And I've seen it myself many times on the database tables, but here I'm getting it on an answer table in :pRIV:. The table is created new each time.

What's going on?

Thanks

MartinEvans,

I can't think of a reason why you would have a .val file associated with an answer table. You may have a disassociated .val file that was not deleted when the answer table was replaced. Have you tried manually deleting the .val file, or all the answer files for that matter and re-running the query?

Hi Perrin,

Thanks for the swift reply. Yes deleting the .val file does fix the problem temporarily. Though I have had trouble making Pdox filesystem do this automatically.

The "answer" table is the result of several sequential queries and has an index built on to it and is then accessed from objectpal.

Something else I should mention. Elsewhere, within the same system I run another set of (different) queries to a table of the same name. But each time of course, it is supposed to be created new, so I never anticipated problems.

Martin,

I'm still puzzled about where the val file is coming from, it shouldn't be created by a query or an index. A val file is normally created by referential integrity, picture functions or other validity functions not indexes. Are you adding a table with a val file to the answer tables? Having Paradox filesystem delete the val file may make things work but it won't solve the problem. Unless I'm overlooking something I think if we can figure out where the val file is coming from we may solve the problem.
