My Val board has locked up for the 2nd time in 2 months.
Last time I replaced the board with a new board with fw18. When you dial directily into an announcment you get a busy signal. when you dial the fac and then the number you get a busy sig. Luckly I have saved the announcments to my pc as avaya is shipping a new board. Anybody else had this problem.

I had the same problem. I had a lot of usage on my board so I ended up having to get another board.

Just reseat the board you have and it will be fine. You wont even lose your announcements

And by the way if you type in

list measurements announcements integ-all today-peak

you can measure your traffic on that board when it locked up. I had 6 boards and the one board that kept locking up had alot of my high usage announcement on it. I got another board and spread out the announcements with the highest volume and problem never came back

I did reset the board and also busyed out and released it.
avaya is sending a new board but I think this is not the root of the problem. when I do a trace I am gettin a denial of service code 1052. I do not know if this is related but for a while I lost my music on hold witch is on an auxiliary board in a different carrier. Now it is working again without any help from me.

I had the same issue, and was told it was becuase I was not deleting messages correctly. I had to go into VAL manager and backup both boards, then delete the messages from there as well as the switch. i do it monthly and it seems fine now.

what software version are you running ? as there is an MR for this.

I was running version 18. Avaya send me a replacement board with version 17. So far it is working fine.

cm2.1 is the version that I am running

We had a VAL board lock up as well.

I don't know if this will help you but we found the issue to be related to names of existing announcements being longer than 21 characters. We have shortened and standardized the announcement names and haven't had any further issues on any of our boards.

Our val board locked up last week. I read the tips here and have gone into Val manager to delete the announcements I had deleted in the PBX. Did another backup and hope that will work.
Our board is FW009. Should I be replacing it? Is that older than fw17 and fw18 mentioned here?

I have one FW010 and another FW017. the 017 is the new one so I'd say yours is older, but i don't know that you should replace it.

you can easily upgradfe the firmware on your val board:

enable filexfer
put in a name you want
type in the password, twice
"secure" set to "n"
slot: 01A03 for example, wherever your VAL board is located.

make sure you have download the tn2501ap FW018 from support.avaya.com

open a DOS session, and change directorys to where you have that file "cd firmware" for example

now just "ftp x.x.x.x", which is the IP address of your VAL board

login with the username & password you created.

now do a "binary", and a "cd /" (to make sure you put the firmware in the root of the VAL, the default is /annc)

now just copy the file:
put tn2501ap-h0-f18-sig.bin TN2501AP

or if you have the newer HV13 or newer card:

put tn2501ap-h13-f18-sig.bin TN2501AP

now in CM, setup your firmware download...
change firmware download 1

fill out all of the spots, and upgrade your card.

By coincidence I ried to do the same today. Using WS_FTP in stead of DOS.
It is somehow not possible to change up one dir. Avaya also mentions in the VAL document that you need SFTP. With WS_FTP pro set to SFTP no connection could be established.

I'll try DOS FTP soon though!
