Hi,

We are running 8700's and 8300's with 3 VAL Boards across the network on CM3.1

We are looking to get redundancy on Announcements. We have heard about grouping. The manuals don't describe the finctionality (well not that I've found), anyone got any experience of this?

Thanks

BAC42,

everything is as simple as it gets: you add audio-group, define which VAL boards or vVAL sources are there to be used within this group, and then define announcements with source as "Gx" where x is number of the audio-group. the only thing you should keep in mind that the announcement file should exist on all boards within a group. it is not required that announcements are similar, though. using locally sourced music and announcements feature you can make every location sound different with the same vector and announcement numbers. this feature is not turned on/off or adjusted, it just works: when a call arrives through a trunk, announcement file that should be played (if you define it via group) is chosen on the nearest VAL board, i.e. within the same port network. simple.
