Hi,

I had a user complain of an issue with the mouse/touchpad. The cursor would jump while typing even with mouse unplugged. For example in Outlook, from the body down to the signature.. or up to into the Subject line. ( I know pressing Shift+tab will do that, but he claims that wasn't it). Also in Word, the cursor would shift to a different area of the document while typing. Suggestions?

I had ran scans for virus and malware with positive results. I ensured new drivers were not installed for HIDs. Both touchpad and mouse have been fine - I'm not certain that's even where the issue lies. Thanks.

Is there anything that is set in the Touchpad Properties such as "Snap To" or similar? Have you tried another Mouse?

How to Make Microsoft Word Stop Ignoring Mouse

I'm uncertain if all laptops have this ability...our Fujitsu tablets have the ability to disable the touchpad while typing. This is set in the control panel under the mouse icon.

Good Luck!

Not sure if it's built into Windows, or in the touchpad driver, but what gadkinson mentions has been true on any laptop I've looked at, at least after installing the correct touchpad drivers.

Another thing you could try is turning down the sensitivity in the touchpad, or increasing the palm-check settings (or similar)..

I have disabled the touchpad last week. I can check back tomorrow and see if this resolved it. Thanks!
