Hi everybody,
I have a strange problem with one user. So his vacation rule works for the first e-mail sent and then It didn't work.
Before it works for two weeks and then it stops working. I checked all the things related to fields and I did this for many users it works fine but I don't understand what is going on with this special user
Any idea to help?
Thanks

Run a GWcheck on the users account there may be issues with the account db.

Is your GW system v6.x? If so, an auto reply is sent only once to each unique e-mail address received. This is a feature of v6.x (called smart reply) used for the purpose of stopping "Looping" rules.

Yes our Groupwise is 6.5. But The vacation rule is working to the other users even if it is 6.5. Where can I check that this option of Smart Relpy is on?
Thanks for your replies guys

Thank you guys for yoyr help, that's what I find
Question: Why doesn't Groupwise send an auto-reply everytime someone sends me a message? Posted: 8/18/2003
Answer: Reply rule only replies once per e-mail address in Novell GroupWise 6.0.
Symptom: Reply rule, or vacation rule, only replies once per e-mail address, then stops unless I disable and then enable the rule again. It only replies once after re-enabling it.
Cause: This is a new "smart reply" feature for reply rules in GroupWise 6.0. This is working as designed.
Solution/Fix: Before 6.0 users often caused major impacts to their systems by creating "vacation" rules that ended up responding to a list server (for example). Each time a message was posted, the rule would fire and post an "I'm on vacation" message, which would again trigger the rule. There were many varieties of this problem, some including reply-to-all. GroupWise makes it so that the reply rules keep a list of the people that they have already replied to, so that they do not get a second reply. GroupWise does this to prevent a looping rule problem that is totally unacceptable. Novell decided that if a rule was set up to trigger on subject (like subject contains "purchase order") then GroupWise needed to let it fire an unlimited number of times per user. On the other hand, if the rule did not care about the subject, then it was of the "vacation" variety that should only fire once per person. GroupWise will clear the list each time that the rule is activated. So, for 6.0: You can get the old behavior back by adding a subject "contains" parameter to the rule. This means that if someone wants to create a looping rule, they can, but at least they will not do so accidentally.

It works now, for more information, go to Novell support
thanks
