Hi,
I am attempting to add a new ide disk toa solaris 7 workstaton. The disk can be seen & the format options used.
I have created root & swap but when I attempt to continue to create our 'backup' slice I get the following -
'PARTITION WITH THE V_BACKUP TAG SHOULD SPECIFY FULL DISK CAPACITY' - I am confused - newbie - please help!

Thanks

you should leave slice 2 as backup using the whole disk capacity. Slice 2 is not for public use.

In other words slice 2 should go from cylinder 0 to the last cylinder on this disk.

It is like that for historical reasons; I believe it was used to take a backup of the entire disk.

Annihilannic.

Thanks for the responses. A great assistance
