Just installed V9.0 from v8.6 have 3 LTO/7 slot tape decks. tried to set up a cleaning job. The slot is 1 set up for cleaning. But under devices. the slot shows empty. will not show tape on inventory run. I try to do clean. says the job is cleaning...then it says it fails. So I am not sure if it is really working...it does take the tape from slot 1. and puts it back. but job fails. says it could not find media. ??
I am also having other issues...but will do it one at a time....thanks for any help..

Sometimes having the wrong cleaning tape can cause cleaning jobs to fail. I have a Benchmark DLT autoloader and I thought any DLT cleaning tape would work. I was wrong, it HAD to be the Benchmark cleaning tape or else it would not work. Check which cleaning tape models are compatible with your model of drive.

Thank-you Packman for getting back to me. but I have been using the same cleaning tapes, and LTO drives. Only started having this problem with the upgrade to version 9.0. It says cannot find the physical media. anyother ideas.? I just right click on lto machine and say clean. I had slot 1 set up as cleaning tape slot. but it said unknown tape. then ran job, failed because of physical not finding tape message. I cannot find a place to clear the stats for cleaning. eventually, the drive will think it needs to be cleaned if the stats are not reset. anymore ideas would be most welcome !

What does it read the tape to be when you inventory it? What is displayed in that slot under the Devices tab after inventory? Backup Exec may need to first recognize the tape before it can use it properly. Also do you have another cleaning tape you can use? See if it does the same thing with that tape.

I discovered the maintenance Pack and downloaded it Friday. I will install today. Thank-you for writing back to me problem.. I will let ya know how it goes. !

Your 'SLOT BASE' might be set incorrectly. You might want to check this out....(I forgot where I found it - I think it was in the V9.0 documentation)

In a Robotic Library-
If a zero-based slot configuration, ensure SLOT BASE field on the Configuration Tab of the robotic library's Propery dialog box displays 0.
