I have a v65x with one power supply, I am purchaseing another power supply for redundancy purposes. I want to install the second power supply while up and running and have been looking for documentation that states hot-plug is supported. I found suns user guide but it seems to have some conflicting information about hot-swap of a failed P/S. Sun doc 817-2023 chapter 1 has a blurb

Sun Fire V65x server: Single 500 W power supply or dual 500 W power supplies with redundant 1 + 1 operation (not hot swappable)

chapter 5 states

The Sun Fire V65x server, however, may be optionally equipped with a redundant power supply. In this case, it is possible to replace the defective power supply without powering down the server.

So 1 has any body ever added a second p/s on the v65x while up and running and 2 what are your opinions on the above information.

Thanks

CA
