Last week i wad epteming an upgrade from v3.6 bcm 200 to v4.0 everything was going smoothly until it got the 53% repartition data preserving data or something to that affect.

It stuck there for about an hour, at that point i realized the system had frozen, i attempted several re-boots but the upgrade would not continue or restore..

I had to re image the hard disk and restore the backup

anyone else had this problem ? i am assuming right now that re imaging the hard drive may have fixed the problem anyway, but i wanted some ideas in case it happens again..

I had an issue w/ when upgrading a BCM 400 from 3.5 - 4.0. 3.5-3.6 went well but things got hung when going from 3.6-4.0. Luckily I had a 3.6 backup and a 3.6 HD. Swapped the HD and continued without a problem. Did a total of 40 upgrades and only had one bad one. Seems to be hit and miss. Told 3.5 HD was probably on it's way out and best to put a new HD in.

Did you do the BCM 3.6 or 3.7 pre-check avaliable on the patch page from Nortel.

I had this problem twice. It was because the apache server wasnt running. I had to copy new apache files to the bcm.

I did the pre-check and there was no problems at all..

I have had the problems with apache after upgrading the 3.7 on other systems but not with a 4.0 upgrade.. how did you copy the apache files ??

Thanks for that info i will image a new drive before i go back..

Ok i well im back on site today and the upgrade worked not problems so it looks like re imaging the drive and restoring the backup fixed this one...
