V3.0 Issues

Just a heads up....

I just installed a new system with:
403 base unit
D30 Digital Phone Unit
Phone30 Analog Station unit
Phone16 Analog Station unit
t-1/pri card
Modem2 card
4 port analog trunk module
No Voicemail

Here are the bugs I found:
Paging port always rings busy
t-1 goes down unexpectedly
plug an analog phone into a digital port on a 403 base unit crashes the system. (that includes butt sets)

Here is the disaster that ensued:

less than 24 hours after completion of install:

the hunt groups stopped falling back to night mode
transfering a call stopped working
paging to a standard phone port hooked to a UPAM died

I took the following action:
Downgrade to 2.1.27

That fixed everything.

Avoid 3.0 at all costs. Wait for a maintenance release. Obviously AVAYA does not test their code good enough.

To Late have over 30 sites running V3 haven't had your problems.

I have a few sites running, one with a similar setup and I have not experienced these problems. Have you tried flashing the unit and then uploading config again?, set lined extension numbers etc etc. May be a screwy config that requires a rebuild!?

I have to agree I have had no "Show Stopper" problems with V3.0(40) yet.

I would suggest double checking the CFG in a spare unit, After the early V2.1 disasters it is very easy to scream BUG prematurely

Has anybody come across this when you have line appearence set.
If somebody is on the that line and you go to press that that line key on another phone you are able to conferencing on that call.

Had/have 3 problems with embedded VM in SOE. 2 have been patched (3.0(409001)). one issue outstanding. 1. No beep after greeting, 2. greeting doesn't play when accessed via AA, 3. (not yet fixed) AA greeting and messages stop playing back mid stream.

Read something on the appearance keys - no privacy (yet).

We've had no choice but to push Avaya to fix things. We sold the systems as 3.0 features

This might sound like a stupid question but why would you plug an analog phone into a digital port? Sounds like your paging port didnt sense the correct levels on the line so it took itself out of service.

this job was an old wiring job.
very old.
i think edison's arch-enemy did it.

i was checking for any signal on a spiced pair for a fax port in an obscure IDF with a butt set and hit an earlier connected digi port (multi-person team with multi-tasking). Crash. Just to test, we plugged in an analog phone to a digi port later that evening and the problem was repeatable. it only happens on the 403 base unit. if you do it to the expansion modules, no problem. i used a classic bell telephone (BAT PHONE + butt set + fax machine). I was convinced and stopped testing. i hope it is just a coincidence. i have not tried this on the 406, 406 V2, 412 or SOHO, as I am in a hotel and not a lab. I have a 406 V2 inbound and will try to repeat ASAP. Have you all seen that the price on the 406 V2 is now less than the 403? same stuff. just more expandability. something is not being said.
