Hi

I have just plugged in a sun v110 server, running solaris 8. When i turn it on i am prompted with setup Questions.

I enter Networked = Y
DHCP = N
Hostname euratlasweb02
ip address = 10.128.2.44
subnet = Y
netmask = 255.255.0.0
ipv6 = n

then at the eng get the mesg.

system identification error.
An error occured while trying to set the ipadress 10.128.2.44 on the network interface.

Press F2 to dismiss the messaage.

The system just keeps on loopping through.

This is strange as the system is networked!

Hi,

Don't know if it will help but I unpacked my first VT100 on Tuesday. First time round I told it that it wasn't on a network, allowed the boot to copmplete and then rebooted from cdrom as you would with "other" Sun boxes. My VT100 now seems to be running OK.

I have managed to bypass this by choosing connected to network "NO". then configure devices manually

boot -r

/etc/hostname.dmfe0
/etc/hosts

also another method i used was once the system was booted up, i run sys-unconfig, which for some strage reason allowed me to bypass the error i was receiving.

This is apparantly a problem with v110.

I am now up and working ok.
