I have worked on multiple systems over 26 years but not an NEC. We are looking at possibly replacing a UX5000. The customer is telling us that each user has a DID number and that is used for both calling their desk phone as well as faxing inbound to each user. They said they receive the file as a TIFF file.

We are trying to determine is this a function of the UX5000 or is there possibly some type of fax server connected to the phone system.

Any knowledge would be great.

Thanks

Do you have the UXmail blade in the system? top left corner of the card should say VOICEMAIL/APP Server. if so the faxes are most likely coming thru the voicemail card. If you do not have this card you can point DID's to a 3rd party fax server such as a Fax finder. find out where the DID's for the faxes are pointed to and see if it is the Pilot number of the voicemail system. if it points at a circular hunt group that has single line extensions then it goes to a 3rd party fax server

Thanks for the reply. The voicemail is an external PC. See attachment.

I do not have access to programming. I am hoping it is a Fax Finder or something along those lines. Looks like more investigation is needed.

Thanks
