Hi, we can't get uucp to work (on a newly re-built [old] system). We need to use a modem connected to a serial port (exists: tty1). cu works, the modem's OK, but it looks like uucico just stops with no error message. The created command file still lives in /uucp/spool and no data is transfered. Anyone have a configuration checklist, etc. since we seem to be missing something (even tho we've followed the man pages as accurately as possible!)? This was working before with another (now departed) local RS-6000. The remote system is the same as before, with no changes. The previously working system is not usable, so we can't check on its setup. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions...

well, as so often seems to happen, we solved this by double-checking everything; the problem was the stanza entry in the Systems file, we had used the keyword "ANY" instead of "Any" for the times when connections are allowed. To much time spent in Windows (where upper/lower case don't matter), I guess. uukick had returned the message "WRONG TIME TO CALL", which was our clue. I hope this helps someone, I learned something today.
