UTL_FILE_DIR Max Size 2

Hello,

I have been tasked with adding some entries into the Oracle parameter UTL_FILE_DIR. Though I only need to add 4 it already has 4 entries.

What is the practical limit (bytes or total entries) for the value of the Oracle 9i parameter UTL_FILE_DIR?

I just successfully wrote to a directory that was at the end of a "utl_file_dir=<list>" that was > 1300 characters long. How long did you want to go?

Besides, you can code multiple UTL_FILE_DIR parameters together:

UTL_FILE_DIR=/usr/data
UTL_FILE_DIR=/oracle/MyData
UTL_FILE_DIR=/other/path
UTL_FILE_DIR=/yet/another/path

My change brought it from 125 characters to about 225. My fear was there would be a limit where I would need to change the directory names\paths being used.
