i was visiting a site that has a pure novell system yesterday, i run pure nt/2k here (dont hold it against me!) anyway on the admins windows 2000 pro workstation he had the novell screen saver running, i thought that the lines going around the screen was purely that, but as it turns out it shows the Utilization of the prossesors, he said he downloaded it from novells website, but i cannot find it for the life of me, if any one can point me in the right direction it would be greatly apreiciated.

thanks

If you are running NetWare 5.x, you have to load SCRNSVR.NLM and the latest version should already be on your server (if you are running the latest Service Pack) -----------------------------------------------------

Your user is thinking wrong and may need a brain reboot. Novell does not write a screen saver for their won OS anymore, nor do they write one for any other OS. The screen saver that comes with NetWare 5x and 6 is just a cut down version of SecurCon, hence the NDS authentication instead of the stupid alternate password you had to enter in every time you activate the console lock on 3 & 4 boxes. The screen saver offered no security.

The snake does mean CPU utilization in NW3 & 4, but in 5 and 6 it doesn't mean diddily squat. It's just secure screen saver that only locks the console (the full secureCon app has many more features IT departments like in distributed managment enviroments).

You user may have downloaded the file from NetWarefiles.com or some other netware shareware site.

It sounds like you are talking about the NetWare screen saver running on a Windows 2000 box? I know what screen saver your talking about in that case. It's just a stupid toy that means nothing. If you look hard enough and long enough you can actually find enough materials and utilities to strip Windows of any and all reference to Microsoft (except what is embeded in the code) and replace it with what ever you. If you look at my notebook it will show you Novell Windows 2000 with big oneNet in the place of the Start button and all other references to M$ removed and replaced with Novell. Just something netware geeks do for schmidts and giggles. Brent Schmidt CNE, Network +

Keep an eye on this, I have known several issues with the screen saver causing ABENDS;

Screensaver runs on over 350 servers at my work - no abends on any of them caused by Screensaver. -----------------------------------------------------
