Utility to PING PC-Name and Email When Down?

I am searching for a simple free tool (even DOS based) that will PING a PC Name then send out an email alert to one or more people stating the outage.

I recall writing a DOS PING batch program many many many moons ago... If anyone has a sample that will jog my memory great... I can always find an smtp tool (i.e. blat) that can send DOS emails..

Goal is to be notified when one of three PCs we have are down. These PCs are just regular PCs that are effectively used as pseudo servers; since we share them for remote desktop and storage.

Any suggestions welcome... but need to keep it simple and free... tia, Happy Holidays!
