I would like to know if there's any Utility program which can perform ftp across the network, instead of going through cron or scripts.

My aim is to perform copy of Data Files ( if compressed through gzip, file size is 4.8 Meg ) across Network besides of doing daily backups on Tape. I tried ftp ( .netrc ) but it has some limitations.

Same as we have lone-tar for performing backups and restore, i would like to know if there's any utility or program which does above.

My Operating System is SCO Unix Sys/V-3.2.4.2....i know it's old, but i've got 95 Simultaneous users working under it, and we are quite happy with it ! Well....for the moment.

Many thanks for your advice and contribution.
Regards.

You could use NFS and just copy the file(s) to an NFS share on the other machine.

Thanks for replying rene1000. Could you please tell me where i can obtain this NFS ?

Regards.
