Hi all,

I'm pretty new to NEC PBX administration so am wondering what sort of tools (if any) do you all use to assist, I guess, the administration of your PBX systems? One of the things I want to do is to ensure that all of our phones here have uniform programming. For example, everyone's button 16 should go to voicemail, or button 10 should be a number that anyone can pick up if someone calls from the outside. I'm using MatWorx32 here and from what I can tell I can only go to each phone one by one to check and/or make any changes. There has to be an easier way with hundreds of phones to maintain?

Thanks.

The best way in this situation is to use the mach script editor. You can write scripts using excel quite simply and just import them into the editor to enable you to make wholesale changes in a few seconds. You can also use it to export info out of the PABX into excel where you can easily manipulate it then import it back in.

OzzieGeorge, Thanks. I have it opened and I'm not sure how I can export info out of the PBX. This software, to me, isn't very intuitive (or I'm just plain dumb heh).

You obviously don't speak Jinglish (a requirement when trying to understand anything on these systems) :)

You click on the printer symbol, this will open a new window with the report in it. You then click on the envelope symbol and in the options window that appears select Excel 8.0 and everything should be obvious from there.

Hmm, clicking on the printer symbol and nothing comes up. In fact the only "active" icons I can hit are open scripts and import scripts.

You want to go to the office data list up first and list up the current forwarding for all the stations and then adjust that MATWorx generated script with any changes/adjustments.
Office Data Listup is available under Tool with R11 or under Function with R10 and lower.
In the addin select Station in the left column and then select Call Forwarding on the right hand side and un-check all the other options under station. Then click the red and blue lookup button and save the script to a location you can find once its done. Then you can import that script into the MACH Script editor.

You can't print anything till you have data in there. I wrote a bit of a tutorial a while back, see if this helps.

However NEC have fixed the formatting problem that I described getting round in the tutorial. If you have a recent copy of matworx you can just use the csv file as it is when you save it from excel.

Thanks all for your invaluable help. Using that I was able to see what each station's E601-E603 (the ones I need to look at) are set at. However I don't see an option to see what speed dials are set (like if I wanted to see what every station's speed dial button no. 13 is set to). Is there a way to check?

How many buttons on the phone?
Need to know if these spd bins are on One-Touch keys or on Feature keys.
Either way there is no easy way to see what is assigned.
You will have to do a look up on the Speed Calling System and then on the right hand column check Memory allocation for speed calling-station.
If this is a feature key on the station you will also need to do a lookup on Station and then select Dterm/DtermIP to get all the key data. Once you have that you must find the station and the key and take note of the spd bin that's assigned to that key.
If you post that info we can get you somewhere. It's not easy but it can be done.

There are 16 buttons on this phone (ETJ-16DC-2) and they are on One-Touch keys.
