Here is the senario: MICS 5.0 w/PRI

My customer brought the system up in his lab with a regular 6 port expansion card in slot 2 (LS/DS in 3, DTI in 4).
He programmed the whole thing, no problem. Well, obviously he needs a Combo card or a services card to run PRI. So on his way out to the customer site, he swung by here and picked up a Combo card.

He gets out there and puts the Combo card in (slot 2)and pulls it up. It doesn't come up. Just flashes. He recycles power again. Same thing.
He pulled everything out of the KSU except the software and it comes up and says, "UTAM Code Required". Now that's an error we've seen before when you try to install Companion sets. You have to have the licensing code to make them work.
But this guys didn't have anything in slot 1 at all, much less Companion sets.

Any ideas why the UTAM Required error code would come up?

Mroberts,
Did he put the PRI card in? If so you need a keycode from Nortel for PRI to work. I have not used a combo card by itself only with T1/PRI applications. It could be an error becuase the sysytem things you are using a PRI. Good Luck!!

Nah, doesn't have anything to do with the PRI. He brought the whole thing up and programmed it with a straight 6 port exp card in it. Had the codes, programmed them and everything.

He even went so far as to power down, take everything out but the software pull it up, get the UTAM error, then defaulted the whole thing out. F ** STARTUP.
Then put a NEW Combo card in, and it still won't come up.
Very strange,

They are coming into our lab now with their KSU Software and everything to test it here.

Thanks

Mroberts,
I asked another Tech that had similar problem. He had a MICS with 6 port expansion card and 2 port expansion card. He removed the 2 port and installed a 6 port combo card and got same error you did.He said he ended up calling Nortel and they had him enter a new keycode to clear problem. Good Luck!! It really is bad when something like this happens.
