Hi. We have some new XP Pro users but our PDC and profile storage server is still running on NT Server.

Most XP people are running ok and logging off ok.

However one user gets an error message everytime she logs off or shuts down fully.

The message says the usrclass.dat.log file either has wrong securities or is being used by another process therefore unable to write back to the server. The roaming profile will not be updated.

Strangely though, when I look at the users profile on the server, it HAS written back (the NTUser.dat file is up to date) and no further problems are evident.

Does anyone know what this is all about?

I have checked permissions on the profile of the user and the specific file - all are ok.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have done a prett big search for this one and it appears to be a common enough problem sadly without a solution.....

Thanks for that. If you happen to hear of anything, would appreciate a post on here. Of course I will keep a watch for it too on MS website also.

Appreciate your time & effort today.

Probably, totally unrelated to your problem, and I wasn't going to post, but I thought you might like to read the workaround in this article, it may give you some ideas.
