Why is this source not selecting the proper 64-bit code modules using forte SUNWspro on a Sol8 Sunfire/V100 machine?

COMMAND> isainfo -vk
64-bit sparcv9 kernel modules

COMMAND> echo 'lwp_default_stksize/D' | adb -k /dev/ksyms /dev/mem
physmem f6d3
lwp_default_stksize:
lwp_default_stksize: 16384


First try COMMAND> /usr/ccs/bin/make solaris
found 32/64 bit compiler
build 32 bit binaries.

Second try COMMAND> /usr/ccs/bin/make buildsunos
found 32/64 bit compiler
build 32 bit binaries.
