I have a USR 56K faxmodem that I was updating the flash on using USR Control center. We had a power cut in the middle of the download procedure and now I can not communicate with the modem at all.
If I connect to the modem port with hyperterm I get a Boot> prompt
Is there anything I can do to recover the modem or is it to be retired to the bin.

TIA

I have this problem too.
I didnt initiate a flash update, but was just using ppp.
now my modem is stuck at the "Boot>" prompt.
This has happened with a USR internal voice modem
and also an external 56k modem.

Ah! I found a useful post on usenet.
giving the command "ATGM" exits the "Boot>" mode
and restores the modem to its normal self :)
