Using XML to call EXCELL

Hello. I have work only in HTML, but now I have to do something in XML, and I have no idea, no clue of XML.

I just want your help in giving me an idea. I have a c++ program that generates a report to html but now I have to send it to EXCEL spreadsheet. That is a website that is going to be used a lot so I want to use XML. Can someone help me giving tips.
