i want to use the workbook files in nru. i am hooked up to the RAD on an MICS 6.0 directly. once i enable the macros, do i just acquire? is there something that i'm missing? any help is greatly appreciated.

ty,
First open the correct work book to version of software. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Next save it 'save as' under a different name. Close original. Don't modify original. Open new copy. Your options to upload/download are contained in the last menu item along the top menu bar. From there it is quite straight forward... but it takes a LONG time to download a whole system.

Will that slow the system down for the users?
I would like print all the ports and modules Friday during the day if I can for a quote on a service contract.

Curly, Unfortunately (never could spell that word) I have seen some slowing during use, but only on a fairly large system. Recently did a small MICS with about 30 stations and 1 extra trunk module, No DTI, no voicemail. Could not tell it was running.
Same thing with NRU Backup Utility. Will slow a fully loaded system, but not see the effect on smaller system.

You might consider doing it over their lunch hour, but then again, 1 hour might not do it. Very slow indeed.

Just had a very pleasant thought. Remember the good old Norstar Manager 2.0? You could do a system backup, then get off-line and print reports and look the system over just from the database file. Not everything has improved.
I still use 2.0 for the old systems when I can if I need reports.

Where did you get a 6.0 workbook file???? :) I am needing one! :) Please let me know, I have NRU 9.0 but it didn't include a mics 6.0 workbook.

I wonder if you can use the workbooks for upgrading. In other words, acquire a 5.0 config and somehow convert it to a 6.0 Workbook so you can push it into a 6.0 MICS?

Just thinking outloud....

Commsguy, was just wondering why you would need to. 5.0 is SUPPOSED to upgrade to 6.0 with cartridge swap. I admit that I have not done it yet. I think it could get pretty messy since the map files are different. A person may be able to do some cut and pasting in the spreadsheets, but I don't think I would trust it. I admit that I am a bit biased against the spreadsheets. It's rare that I use them anymore. Not enough patience I guess.

We had a less than successful upgrade experience from 5.0-XC to 6.0DR. For some reason the config dumped when we changed the software card. If we could use the worksheets, it would have been an option.

I would be uneasy cutting and pasting myself. Like I said, I was just thinking outloud.

CG,
You can not use it for upgrades beyond same release xc upgrade. You can't even go back from xc to same release non xc. I just tried all of that. I think it all lies with the macro layout. If I were a programmer, likely I might find that there is an easy way through this but...

Apparently there is an issue with 9.1 and 6.0,
I received an error stating that one map does not match another map yet they should have,ITAS told me to hold off since its a known issue.

Thanks for replies btw.
