Has anyone had success with this? If so, what is the syntax? Also, what type of file does Word want to print to, and can this "print file" be read back as a "doc"? I am particularly interested in the "append" argument of Printout. I have been searching for months for a way to combine multiple independent documents into one large document while retaining the headers, footers, pagination, and formatting of the original docs. I've found this to be a very difficult task using various other Word VBA methods (such as InsertFile). I stumbled across the various options of Printout and this seemed to provide hope, although I could not get it to work. Has anyone used it to print to a file? Thanks for any help or insights.

ActiveDocument.PrintOut

as far as I am aware it just prints the file to the default printer.

I don't think print to file will meet your needs. It doesn't print in a "document" format. Have you tried selecting the whole story, copy, and paste at the end of your master document?
