We have attempted various methods of making boot floppy disks to get our 2650s on the network for cloning etc. with lots of trouble. The problem seems to be with configuring the broadcom 57xx NIC drivers. So I tried Windows PE 1.1. It boots from the MSDN CD on a range of other computers including several Dell Laptops and connects to our network (by DHCPing) successfully. On the 2650 I have tried it won't connect. Seems to load the drivers OK. The tcp/ip stack, ms_client etc all seem to load. Link light is on, activity lights are flashing on the NICs. No ping. ipconfig gives 0.0.0.0 for ip and net mask initially and after ipconfig /refresh (long delay)gives 169.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.0.0. We block incorrect subnets at the switches so the generic ip won't work. Anyone tried WinPE? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
