I have had a Wacom Pen/Tablet for years but did not use it much. Recently I tried to connect it to my Dell XP pc and with new XP based drivers it works. This is an old device and Wacom makes many new and very capable pen/tablet devices.
Wacom states that Wacom pen-based computing quickly and professionally edits photos and creates digital artwork by using Adobe® Photoshop®, Corel® Painter™, and over 100 other leading software applications.

I tried it and minimally used it with PSP-X but I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and used all of it's capabilities?

Does PSP-X have a function for such pen/tablet use?

I use a Wacom Tablet and Pen all the time with PSP through each incarnation from when it was free and on two floppy disks right up to PSP X1. You will find a setting somewhere in the preferences for pressure sensitive pads.

It's the best thing to use for editing!

I also have had PSP since version 1 to X. Is X1 worth the cost?
Can you give me some uses you have made of the Wacom pen? What's it best for and worst for?
My tablet is model CT-0405-R.

Thanks

The wacom pen is best for fine editing and worst for nothing that I can find. It's also best for avoiding RSI if you use a computer a lot. After all it's much more natural, just like holding a pencil. Once you get used to using it, it's very intuitive and you won't want to go back to using the mouse for anything.

As to whether it is worth the upgrade to X1 I'm not sure if I can answer that. It's growing closer to Photoshop in the way it works but I have to say that I preferred X.

Why don't you download a trial of it?
