Has anyone tried to use VM server as a host on windows 7? I am having problems getting to the internet from the VM. I cant seem to web browse. I can ping 4.2.2.2 I can ping The firewall is turned off on both the VM and the host.

Which is the Host? Is it a Windows 7 machine with a Virtual Machine Server as a Guest, or is it what you state?

There are one or two suggestions in this 3 page link, I'm just not sure whether they are relevant to your problem.

Installing VM Server on Windows 7 Host

Try the VM Server Forum too,

The host is the windows 7 machine. The guest is a VM XP and VM 2008 server. I am using NAT. The ethernet icon says connected and internet. I can ping from DOS 4.2.2.2 and on the VMs. But I cannot browse the internet on explorer or chrome on the VM. I changed the active network to "work" on the host machine. I also disable all the firewalls setting.

Do you have "Virtual PC Network Filter Driver" ticked in the Properties for the Host's Network Adapter?

In the Settings for the Virtual Machines, are the settings under Networking correct where they indicate which Adapter (the Network Card etc, on the Host Machine) that should be used?

Looking at IE under Tools/ Internet Options/ Connections/ LAN Settings/ Proxy Server, on all machines, is there any setting showing in there?

Is the firewall on all machines the stock standard Windows Firewall or are they third party products?

Have you tried from a Command Prompt running the Netsh Winsock Reset command on both VM's?

Can all machines Ping each other?

Are there any clues from the Event Viewers on the VM's?
