I would like to be able to use /30 masks on some wan links in a hub & spoke arrangement. If I set up a default route on the spoke and add a static route on the hub back to the spoke ( I have redistrubuted the static routes on the hub) why cant I use different masks. I would like for example to use 140.1.10.x/24 on the spoke LAN and 140.1.199.x/30 on the wan links. I appreciate RIP does not support VLSM but I thought using static's would work. Any other way's round this withouth resorting to OSPF etc. I only have IP & IPX running over the link.

OK,
If you're using static routes, you will have to create a static route for each of your 'hub' networks on your 'spoke' router. And vice versa on the 'hub' routers.

Redistributing the static routes into RIP wont work as you know, try using RIPv2.

Good luck,
Phil. If everything is coming your way then you're in the wrong lane.
