There is way to much code involved to put an example here so the mext best thing I can do for you is to reccommend a great DX8 book (Author may have book for 9 out but have not searched).

What kind of Joystick is it? Does it plug into the USB port or an old legacy joystick port (15 pins)?

Maybe you could use a stepper motor for the head and control it via a motor controller .....

I used to work with their controllers years ago and they were pretty easy to program using Basic, vb would probably work too.

There are a lot of controllers out there but some are real expensive.

I went to their site but did not see any pricing, you would have to contact them to find out. But I did see a motor speed controller that looked reasonably inexpensive...
