Vacunita elegantly gives an explanation which is in sync with what I believed a touch screen to be - Nice to confirm it.

That being said, does that mean that all I have to do is put JS/AJAX behind my buttons and off I go??? I effectively have a touch screen based php application ???

I do not want to buy the screen to start development/testing unless I feel comfortable that I will use it.

Thank you all for you input!

Basically yes. All interaction is done at the operating system level. If the Os can work with the Touchscreen, the interaction to your PHP/Web app should be transparent.

No problem.

Tigerdirect.com has a few touchscreens in the 300 to 500 dollar range. Which is just slightly more than regular LCD screens.
