Using the "Can Grow" function in a subreport

I have set up a database for entering in information into a control plan. The control plan is a subform containing info. like (characteristic, sample size, test procedure, responsibility, etc.). I have made the subform part of my report and set each field (memo field) to "can grow". When the report prints, each field is a different size.

How can I get all of the fields in the subform to print the same size as the field containing the most data?

Maybe you're not asking the right question/explaining your concern. If you have one field that has lots of data and another that just has a line or two, the second field is naturally going to be "smaller" on your report than the first one. It's supposed to be that way. Can you redescribe/clarify exactly what's bugging (no pun intended) ou about the report? Ann

Ann,

Thank you for your response. I think you understand what I'm asking, but I'll try to give a little more clarity below.

What I don't like about the report is that when I print it out the columns are not even going across the report (the outline of each field does not match up with the field next to it). I understand that if you have less data in one field it will shrink the size of that field. But, is there a way through code or a function that I can set all of the fields in that section of the report to expand or shrink the same distance no matter how much data is entered?

I hope this helps.

Are we perhaps talking about borders here? If the amount of data in one field is significantly less than another you should simply see white space beneath the data unless you haven't set your borders to Transparent. Ann

Ann,

You are correct in that it is a border issue. However, I need the borders for seperating the information in each field. That's why I'm curious as to whether or not I can adjust the fields so that when they print, all of the borders and fields are the same size. Perhaps I'm trying to do something that is not allowed in Access.

Thanks

Have you tried using lines instead of borders? (Ya know, the line control from the ToolBox?) Ann
