Using the inverter from an APC UPS with a wind generator

Has anyone disected an APC-UPS?? I was able to acquire an older 5000VA unit and some batteries. I have purchased and installed a 600W, 48V wind generator to charge the batteries. unfortunately i think the batteries are questionable. but i want to experitment a bit further and wanted to know if anyone would know how to strip back the ups guts so that i can feed the inverter and then get out AC power without all the other stuff going on in the old UPS.

thoughts or comments are welcome.
