using the Inbox repair tool

I tried to click on an incoming email and think I did so before the message completely arrived. The error message indicated that the problem can be resloved by using the Inbox repair tool. When I enter the Scanpst.exe, I keep getting an error message that says email is still running. I've closed all email from the tray and the message still pops up.

Any suggestions on correcting this problem? I can't send or receive any email and can't delete the corrupt file either.

Reboot the computer and try it again before you open any email related apps.

I have rebooted numerous times and the same message appears. Just wonder why I can't delete the one problem file?

You've got something grabbing hold of your .pst file. This could be a virus that's using MAPI (part of Outlook) to send mail.

Boot into safe mode and run it.
