Hello all. I'm working on a program where they want specific records in the subfile to blink. However, even when I turn the indicator on for the blink display attribute, write to the subfile, and turn if off, it still activates the blink for every record in the subfile. Is there a way to get around this?

Thanks

You will need to write the subfile again. The indicator is only passed to the display when a write occurs.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I change the indicator to be on or off before I write the record to the subfile so that only specific records are blinking, but this is not working.

Also, I've noticed that instead of blinking the field is showing up in the color red in the terminal emulator.

Nevermind, something screwy happened. I had edited the display file to add the display attribute for blink, and put an indicator for it; however, the DSPATR keyword and indicator were on the same line as the definition of the field name, and this was causing an error when compiling. What I don't understand is how it ever compiled in the first place. Very strange. Either way, I got it working now, thanks.

Well I was ALMOST able to get it working. Now the records just show on the screen in the color red and do not blink. I've tweaked with the settings in Client Access to make sure everything ok on that end, but was unsuccessful.

Hi

The blink only works if you also set the colour to red.

If you don't set the colour to anything and set on blink then it turns the field red with no blink.

Setting the colour to anything but red and setting on blink causes the field to be the selected colour with no blink.

Setting colour to red and setting on blink causes the field to be blinking red!

I think it's called a feature! [hammer]

The result of turning on blink varies with which emulator you are using, and settings within the emulator product. The Client Access default is to set color to red when blink is specified.
