I have a spare PIX506 to configure in readiness for an office relocation (new ISP/IP address) but I don't have a record of the password in this spare PIX.

The password recovery procedure at shows how to run TFTP using a router/pix and pc but I don't have a spare router.

I have connected a PC to the PIX using a null modem cable and can get the pix password prompt in NT4/hyperterminal. My question is, can I run TFTP with this hookup to transfer np52.bin to the pix and if so what monitor commands do I use?

I'm most grateful for any help with this.

Hi Yizhar, thankyou for the response. After many failed attempts I found I had to link my laptop to the PIX via a hub (no crossover cable to try) and also that I had to manually start the TFTP server not just enter the TFTP command in Hyperterminal! I have now successfully reset the password - Thanks again.
